Valerie Howe

Valerie Howes is an award-winning journalist and author, with a passion for community and social change. She founded a group of 40 people to sponsor a family of six from Syria in 2015. It was one of the most meaningful and intense experiences of her life, and she remains close to the family members, who have rebuilt their lives in Toronto. Valerie would like to acknowledge the work of Carla Antonio in creating this video. Carla is a videographer and photographer based in Toronto, Canada. A Loyalist College Photojournalism graduate, Carla started her career as a visual storyteller producing content for publications like Maclean’s, Today’s Parent, Chatelaine, FLARE and Hello! Canada. Today, she continues to tell visual stories for numerous brands and content creators.
